Still here… waiting for East side olympics 2010
Factors that have led to the site’s slowdown:
- I changed jobs. A) more work responsibilities left me little time for Internet play. B) my work IT departments banned my site.
- prior to meeting my wife, I was a single guy with a lot spare time.
- I also build web sites outside of my day job and I’ve been tied up with several big projects.
- I never built this site to the level where it was more self-sufficient (i.e. a Digg or Fark style community with trusted admins to monitor new site content.) I HAVEN’T GIVEN UP ON THIS.
- Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and other mega-community sites scooped up a lot of the little guy’s users. The priorities of the casual Net surfer have changed.
Jamaica was terrific! I had the time of my life and I’m counting down the days till I can go back.
I assume many left because of the lack of consistent content updates.
Nice discussion fellas. Personally, I think government mandated anything is crap. But mostly I’m with Jolly here…what we need is more porn!
Agreed…. and not that this point matters much, but with car insurance laws, and seat belt laws, you can choose not to drive. The alternative to not paying for your healthcare is to not exist. I wasnt trying to stir a big shit pot on politics, as I am typically one of the misinformed sheep. I just saw it as an opportunity to stir this site a bit again. It lost some momentum after the renovations… Wheres hurling spew. doesn’t he have some hair bows or some shit to sell off?
Also, how was your trip to Jamaica? Do you have any nature photos for us? Hopefully they’re much different than your golf photo. lol
They make me wear a seat belt; I don’t have a problem with that. I pay car insurance, probably a good idea.
Now, if the government started forcing me to work in a munitions factory located in cold ass Alaska, then I’d likely fuss a little bit and draw Hitler mustaches on Obama picture.
Time will tell if this legislation benefits our great country. Set a reminder on your calendar (this day, 20 years from now) and let’s revisit this discussion. Who knows, maybe the Bush administration’s unjustified decision to invade and conquer that little piss ant, non-threatening Iraq will turn out alright as well, 20 years from now.
It was certainly an interesting process to follow, this reform. But let’s all move on with our goddamn lives and continue using the Internet for what it was invented for – porn.
I agree that denial of pre-existing conditions is a HUGE downfall in our country. Also I’m not trying to state that I am overloaded with ambition, or better than anyone. I just lucked out in my search for a career with insurance and retirement with a high school degree. I dont make as much money as I could, but those perks keep me here.
I wasnt trying to offend with the “lack of ambition” line but you must admit that there are quite a few to contribute to that number. I know there are some folks who actually need assistance vs. those that milk assistance. If you refuse to pay your fine, isnt the penalty jail time? If you go to jail, you will get your healthcare while you are there. Doesn’t it bother you that the government is trying to force you to spend more money that you may or may not have? Why is it their business? Do you think it will contribute to America’s health in a positive way? What will the Insurance rates be?
Mandatory healthare:
You dump a lot of healthy people (lower, middle and upper class) into the insurance (risk) pool.
If lower and middle class cannot afford to be in this pool, the government provides assistance.
The money contributed to that giant pool will go to sick people who need treatment.
Yes, there are lazy fucks who abuse the help they get. You’ll always have them. I assume there are studies out there that provide an estimate of just how big that problem is. Is it a problem so big that it ruins the entire program for the people it actually helps – the hard working lower class folks who are doing the best they can with the shitty hand they were dealt in life? Imagine you were born into a family where the fucking deadbeat dad disappears and your poor mother is forced to raise you in government housing, in an environment where misfortune thrives. She’s trying to raise you out of it. You know the story. Try walking a mile (a mile lined with pimps, pushers and all types of bad influence) in their shoes. The people who abuse the system: they’re ignorant, they’ve given up on the dream, they have no hope. Their lives will always be shit. Pity the poor bastards and be thankful for what you have.
I assume your life is not uncomfortable. You live the American Dream in the eyes of a lot of people who aren’t as fortunate. Your taxes go to help the people who are busting their ass to just get to that level of comfort.
Man, I’m such a nigger-loving, socialist, liberal.
First of all, lack of ambition? What the fuck? I’m so sick of the idea that people are poor because they lack the “ambition” or “drive” that you have. Nothing could possibly be farther from the truth. Poor people are in fact more ambitious and more determined than the middle class and upper class. Do you think there are people willing to work for dirt cheap or commit commit theft just for fun? Hunger can be quite a motivator.
Second, fewer denials from insurance companies because of a pre-existing condition means more procedures covered which means more healthcare providers reimbursed for vital procedures they perform thus alleviating their need to spread their costs out among all their patients.
And my perspective really doesn’t matter. Because it won’t change the fact that universal healthcare is a necessity and the closer we go to it the better.
This bill will actually be bad for me as I neither have nor want health insurance. I refuse to seek or accept medical treatment for my own reasons. And I will refuse to pay any fine for not having it.
I have a DNR and a living will. When I become a vegetable, the docs will pull the plug and I’ll barely cost you a dime.
I don’t understand how mandatory healthcare will help anything…. What benefits will this provide for our country? Are you in a larger income bracket where you’re willing to pay more taxes to assist the needy/ people who may lack ambition? If so, I applaud your generosity… but i’m sure you’ll bitch about it, when you have a small problem that takes months to resolve due to flooded Doctors offices. If not, are you in a lower income bracket, and you think this will assist you in affording healthcare? If so, then i see your perspective.. what kind of assistance will you receive? Some folks may want healthcare, that cant afford it. but to make it mandatory?? If someone cant afford healthcare, they’ll receive a fine… if they cant afford healthcare, how will they afford their fine? Why are we forced to spend within private companies? I genuinely wish I owned a health insurance company at the moment. If you get time, please elaborate more. I am seriously interested in this topic, as there is a lot that I don’t know about it yet. I need some more perspective.
Yes, it’s so terrible that the US has finally entered the ranks of other developed nations.
If you want to live in a country without socialized healthcare, then go ahead and move to the third world. I volunteer to help you pack.
socialized healthcare? fawk!!!
Let’s see what we have here.
It’s Fap Fap Friday?
Bring it on!
I sure hope Tony’s not working today. I just flung lots of pics of sexy girls kissing at the Pic Dump. They need to be shared on this fine Friday.
Agreed, good read.
Nice post Blogger.
